Handmade bamboo chuppah becomes part of one family's marriage tradition

Customers who purchased our Designer Quality Bamboo Poles in 2010 to make a wedding arch for their daughter recently wrote to update us on the status of their hand-built chuppah.
Janet writes:  Here is the chuppah that my husband, Peter McDonald, made for our daughter's wedding in February 2010.  On Sunday, May 29th, her sister-in-law used it for her wedding, also in NYC.  This time it had more decorations and it looked absolutely beautiful!  It will next be making an appearance on December 3rd for a friend's wedding in New Jersey!  So thanks again for providing the beautiful bamboo!
Bamboo is strong and sturdy and makes long-lasting beautiful structures

Another Beautiful Bamboo wedding arbor

I recently received these pictures of an arbor built by one of our customers for their beach wedding:

A long view of the wedding arbor on the beach before the ceremony

Four upright poles, four cross poles plus two additional poles for added support in the back

Plenty of room underneath the arbor for everyone to fit

Two new pictures of wedding arbors sent by customers

In the past couple days, I receive pictures from two customers who built wedding arbors with Beautiful Bamboo.  Here's the first letter and accompanying photo:

My husband and I bought a few pieces of bamboo from you for our son's wedding at the beach, attached is a picture, it turned out really nice. Thank your husband for helping us select such beautiful pieces.

And the second letter/picture:

This is the Arbor we built with the bamboo we bought from your grove last year. I don't know if you remember us we are the ones that showed up on the day it actually snowed in Florida lol we had a great time and this turned out to be perfect. Thank you.

A lakeside wedding with bamboo arbor

This morning I received an email from customers who purchased some of our bamboo poles to build a wedding arbor.

Sherry,  We just wanted to say thank you so much for the gorgeous bamboo we purchased from you for our wedding arbor. It turned out beautiful and was perfect for our ceremony. As promised I've attached some photos for you. Thanks again!
-Jean & Victor Gonzalez

What a perfect structure for a lakeside service...
Wedding arbors or "chuppahs" remain one of the most popular uses for bamboo poles.  Jean and Victor chose a more elaborate design with diagonal cross pieces but even more simply designed arbors add beauty and a natural feel to a beach or lakeside wedding.

Happiness abounds...

Yet another wedding arbor made out of Beautiful Bamboo poles

This wedding arbor was built by Shea Hopely Flowers in Jacksonville, FL for use at beach weddings.  The bamboo poles were our Domestically Grown Designer Quality poles in 3" x 8' lengths cut down to a height of 7' 5".  Shorter length poles cost less to ship but still provide adequate height for the wedding couple to stand under.

A beachside wedding arbor made from bamboo

A customer from Orlando sent photos of the wedding arbor he built from poles purchased at Beautiful Bamboo.

"The Arbor turned out great," he wrote. "I attached some pictures like you requested."

Another photo of a bamboo wedding arch

So many of our customers purchase bamboo poles to build beautiful but inexpensive wedding arches or chuppahs. The customer who sent the photo below used the poles for a beach wedding.  When that is done, usually 10' long poles are needed so that about 2' of the pole can be buried in the sand.  The remaining 8' is high enough for the wedding party to stand under while still having plenty of height left over to drape fabric over the top, as shown in the picture.  Any of our different types of bamboo poles work well for a wedding arch but the imported poles and the domestically grown designer poles are the most popular.

Photos of Imported Bamboo Poles

An end view of 3" diameter x 10' long Imported Bamboo Poles.  As you can see in the photos, there is considerable variation in both the diameters and the thickness of the bamboo walls.

There's also a certain amount of variation in the color of all bamboo canes.  In the Imported Bamboo, the canes tend to be shades of tan.  On the left is the 1.25" x 6' pole followed by a 1.5" x 10, a 2" x 10 and a 3" x 10 pole.

Above is another view of our imported bamboo poles beginning (from the left) with
1.25" x 6', 1.50" x 10', 2" x 10', 3" x 10', 4" x 10', 5" x 10' and 6" x 10'.
While the four smaller diameter poles are a rice-colored shade of tan, the three largest sizes might more accurately be described as an amber-brown color due to the heat treating process and the particular variety of bamboo.  No matter what diameter pole you purchase, it is important to understand that all bamboos taper somewhat from base to top.  For more accurate size information, click on our BAMBOO SIZE CHART.

Building a wedding arbor or "chuppah" is a popular use of Imported Bamboo poles.
Popular items to complete the wedding arbor are bamboo hearts.

Made out of slender tan-colored canes that have been heated, bent and fastened into a heart shape, the addition of bamboo hearts to a wedding arbor (or to any other application) is a simple, natural way to express love.
