In the ground they tend to grow faster and larger. Because of your poor soil conditions, you will want to dig a hole at least twice the size of the current container. Use a good planting mix in that space for planting your Seabreeze.
The Seabreeze is hardy to about 21°. If it seems the temperature is going to drop below that, you may want to cover for the night.
Please contact us at the nursery for more information beautifulbamboofarm@gmail.com or 352-429-2425.beautifulbamboohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05621373866735381972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25699216.post-20758903478817328762020-12-28T00:47:43.326-05:002020-12-28T00:47:43.326-05:00We live in the Austin Area, and we’ve kept our Sea...We live in the Austin Area, and we’ve kept our Seabreeze bamboo in a pot for months, it’s only about 5ft tall, but I’m afraid to put it in the ground for fear that it won’t do well in our rocky limestone soil. The fact that the tips are brown, may indicate something else is going on. We typically see this with a chemical burn or something else damaging the root system. What type of fertilizer was used? How long have they been in the ground? Keep them watered and they will probably recover just fine. The seabreeze is a very tough plant.
Please feel free to send pictures to jennifer@beautifulbamboo.com. I will take a look and see if there is anything else I can tell.beautifulbamboohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05621373866735381972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25699216.post-31041395854703862872017-03-02T09:10:37.488-05:002017-03-02T09:10:37.488-05:00Hello Jennifer...I planted several Bambusa Malenge...Hello Jennifer...I planted several Bambusa Malengensus (Seabreeze). The leaves will tell you if the bamboo is thirsty. If the leaves fold in half lengthwise, the plant is beginning to wilt and could use some water. If the leaves stay open and flat, the bamboo is doing fine.beautifulbamboohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05621373866735381972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25699216.post-91692913398552269892017-02-06T21:41:34.660-05:002017-02-06T21:41:34.660-05:00I live in zone 9 and planted 5 sea breeze bamboo a...I live in zone 9 and planted 5 sea breeze bamboo a year ago. Bamboo likes a well draining, but rich soil. Newly planted bamboo, should be watered at least once a day for the first few weeks.
How was the bamboo planted? They can become stressed from the transplant, but rarely will lose all of the leaves. Care should be taken at planting to not break up the root mass adding to the stress.
I would recommend to continue watering daily as long as the soil is draining. Also, a good fertilizer may help.
Please feel free to send me pictures to jennifer@beautifulbamboo.com and I will see if I can help you further.beautifulbamboohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05621373866735381972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25699216.post-17915582734462135332016-12-15T14:41:49.873-05:002016-12-15T14:41:49.873-05:00My newly planted bambusa textilis has turned brown...My newly planted bambusa textilis has turned brown and the leaves have fallen off! Depending on the size of the container, this might be every 2-3 years.
Bamboo will shed leaves as new growth emerges. It should never lose all of its leaves at one time. If this is happening, something is not right with the plants.beautifulbamboohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05621373866735381972noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25699216.post-80698250718131600842016-06-12T07:23:00.478-04:002016-06-12T07:23:00.478-04:00Can I plant the clumping bamboo in a pot permanent...Can I plant the clumping bamboo in a pot permanently?
